Big Girl? Not Yet!

So now that Lily has discovered how to climb up the kitchen chairs, she always wants to sit in one and have a snack or drink from a big girl cup, I'm always a little hesitant because she definatelt takes after her mom in the spill department, but yesterday she kept saying "Drink Peeeese!" So I couldn't help it. She was doing well, and then with maybe one sip left I hear "Uh Oh!" and turn to see her dump the remaining water, then proceed to smear it all around to "clean it up" she says to me "Okaaaayyee" and then puts it upside down on her head and says "Hat!" Oh my Lily girl I love you so, you make me smile at your sweetness and creative spirit, and am so glad you are not a big girl just yet!

Mom and Me Dance Class

Um should I be a little worried with this obvious obsession with the mirror?

Seriously I had to laugh because she kept running over to it to check herself out and watch herself dance!

This was the pre-class photo can you tell by the look on her face that I was the more excited one?

So I've been wanting to do something like this for a while because I knew Lily would love it (from the dance sessions we have at home), and I met a Mom in Playgroup last week who was talking about it, so on Tuesday we went for the first time and it was so sweet. It actually brought back a lot of memories from High school because I used to teach little girls dance classes at my old studio. I couldn't believe I had forgotten about the "tick tock" warm-up routine and other little fun dancisms. I can only hope Lily's love for dance won't burn out too soon because I seriously LOVE everything about it and hope Lily can have the same experience.

Uncle "Ick"

So my little brother Nick just came up to start his freshman year, and I couldn't be more excited. Not only do I finally have some immediate family here, but I think this will be just another reason for my parents to come here more often. I also told Nick I would do his laundry and make him dinner any time he wants to come over and Babysit:) Anyway here he his with his Elder's Quarom Presidency, they came over for waffles a couple of Sundays ago. P.S. Nick is the cutie in the black shirt, P.S.S. Before Lily could say Nick she called him "ick" and I think it's cute so I'm trying to keep the nickname going.

Hula Girl

When my Dad was here a few weeks ago he wrapped a blanket around Lily and made her a "hula girl", and after demonstrating a little hula dancing for her she got the gist of it. It was so cute to capture this moment because when I was little after many baths my Dad would make me his little hula girl and I loved it, and now I'm so glad Lily can have some of the same sweet memories with her Grandpa. (As you can see Lily addes her own flair and style to the hula girl ensemble with Grandpa's sunglasses)

Baaaaaaaaaaaaah!

On one of our walks to an elementary school by our house we heard a strange sound in the orchard next to the sidewalk. Well, as you can see Lily and our next door neighboor Claire were trying to find the source, all of a sudden we heard a very clear "Baaah!", and when I zoomed a bit with the camera we found the sheep. Lily was so excited and now every time we even drive by this orchard I get a little "Baaah!" from the backseat.

Lily the Mommy

Don't mess with my baby! Her maturnal instinct is very strong.

So one of her new favorite things is her "Bebe". She carries it EVERYWHERE, to the point that I am washing it almost everyday.

Bows!

So I made these for Lily's pictures but then I showed them to a lady I made a tutu for and she bought 4, so maybe this is the next addition to the tutu, some matching bows

New Hair-do!

So, I know this is so silly but this is the first time I've ever done braids in her hair and I just couldn't help myself with a couple of minutes, seriously my next kid is going to think I was obsessed with Lily!

Pick up Sticks

Searching
Gathering
More Gathering
More searching

Yes!

Focused Effort
So I don't know when our survival instincts start to kick in but I never thought as early as 18 months. One day when we were at the park Lily just started to get down to the serious business of picking up and gathering all the sticks she could find. It cracked me up so I had to take some pictures.

Playin' in the Rain

I know all moms would agree how absolutely adorable it is when their husbands jump in and play with the kids, well here is one of my favorites because Lily just loves to play in the water so when Chad got out and they splashed in some puddles, well it just made her little day!

Ducks

One Sunday afternoon Chad, Lily and I decided to help the duck population out with some free lunch, so we went to the park and gave them an entire package of old tortillas. As you can see they were a hit with both ducks and little girls.

Crayons, Cookies and Bubbles

Success!

Now she's a pro

Daddy's invention, a new "cook-eee"
Two chocolate chips on an animal cracker in the microwave for a few seconds
Fingerlickin' Good

Good use of Color
So many choices

It is so much fun seeing your kids discover things for the first time.
