Blood on our hands (sort of)

So I'm kind of tired right now and so I hope this makes sense. But a week and a half ago Chad and I both hurt our hands. I just wrote my brother on his mission to explain and thought I would copy it here so I can remember it.

hey, so chad cut his hand catching and KILLING a fly! crazy i know, but listen. he was in our bathroom and a HUGE fly was in there, since he didn't want it to get out into the house and bug the girls, he had to get rid of it. so he grabbed our glass toothbrush holder and caught it, then as he was flinging it into the sink to kill it, the holder caught on our travertyne counter and shattered, a large part into chad's hand. it was really gross you could see the fatty tissue stickin out. he then calmly called me at bunco to tell me to come home because he had cut himslef. so off he went to the emergency room and 5 stitches later, he had a really hurt hand, a really dead fly, and a really ticked off wife. the end.

my story is not so glamorous (and believe it or not i just spelled that word by singing to myself the fergie song G-L-A-M-O-R-OUS), so i was just making this tutu for a 16 yr. old girl in Alabama for her homecoming dance, maybe it's a new trend, and as i was in the ZONE snipping and cutting artistically away at the skirt, my left thumb clumbsily got in the way and SNIP, the very tip tippy top got cut off. at first i thought "oh crap, i need to find the tip so they can sew it back on". after the bleeding stopped though i realized i did not have an amputated tip, just a little bitty skin was gone, and it healed in a couple of days, but it really did bleed and hurt a lot and i had a whole new level of sympathy for my chaddy.

What's going on?

I am alive just temporarily without internet, but even though I can't post pictures because they are on my home computer I wanted to just write about what we've been doing lately so I don't forget.

Today we went with my friend Angi and her two boys to Thanksgiving Point for the funnest day ever (Lily's words exactly)! We started off at the Dinosaur museum which was a first for us and Lily had fun running around and mostly playing in the water and sand areas. It was so nice because the museum had barely anyone there so we weren't rushed and the kids had lots of room to just run and play. Then we had a quick lunch at the deli there and admired the yumminess that farmers were unloading for the farmer's market they have there. Then, even though it was nap time Angi and I decided to go and just do the Cornbelly experience because it was a perfect day, and again there wasn't a huge crowd of people. The kids had a ball and we had fun playing with them. The highlights were the water pumps where you could race plastic ducks (ths alone captivated the crew for at least 20 minutes), lots of fun slides, hay tunnels, pig races, pumpkin princess land where Lily could put on a princess dress and play in a blow up jump thing and sit in a 'real' cinderella carraige, the cow/tractor/train ride we went on twice, and all the fun fall things to look at. We didn't leave till almost 5 and the kids were so great. Lily was in heaven and Ella napped in the stroller or just smiled and looked around at all the sights. What a great day!

Yesterday was a bit different. After story time at the library, we came home, and after I had taken Lily, diaper bag and groceries into the house I went back to get Ella and Lily slammed the garage door shut. Well, I don't know how but then it was locked and I was locked out without keys or phone (both in the diaper bag) with a tired Lily crying on the other side of the door for me. After about 5 minutes of crying, praying, coaxing, and soothing I was able to get Lily to unlock the door (Yay!) and then poceded to cry with her for a good minute or two and kiss the daylights out of her and tell her proud I was of her that she figured out the lock and saved the day!

Tuesday was Ella's 4 month doctor check up and she was so funny. She would smile at the doctor and nurse while I was holding her but once they got too close she would stick out her bottom lip and get this scared look in her face and start to cry. A little to early for stranger anxiety aren't we? Well my little chunk weighed in at 15 lbs. 15 oz. and 25.25 inches long which of course puts her in the 90-95th percentile. It's so nice to not worry at all wether she is growing enough! And the past few nights she has slept 10-12 hours, don't worry I know it won't last, but she is such a GOOD baby. I am so enjoying her and loving the babyness so much more now that I realize how quickly she will grow up.

Lily is 2 going on 12 sometimes she is just so funny sometimes how smart she is getting, and also a bit pre-teen drama has been erupting. Like this morning when she screamed her guts out for 30 minutes because I wouldn't let her wear a dress today (she wears one EVERYDAY and has a whole closet full of cute non-dress clothes, but yesterday had a 'pee' accident and I tell her if she pees in her dress she can't wear one the next day since dresses is one of the only things she cares enough about to really motivate her, and believe me after today I'm not sure I will be picking the clothes battle again with her, but Holy heck she is 2!!! and I think too early to care about what she wears. And after the 30 minute crying episode was over the only way I got her to wear a skirt was to tell her it was a half-dress and that she needs to give her other clothes a chance to get out of her closet or they get really sad because they want to go outside and play too ). Yes, she is very sweet and sometimes I want to kiss and squeeze her I love her so much, but she is definatley opinionated! When she freaks out sometimes she will, in the middle of her rant say, "Mom what's goin on with me?" Good question. But I love her and love all her little quirks that make her LILY. And I also love hearing "I'm a little teapot" sung over and over and over...

I think that sums it up for what I've been upto with the kiddos, and once the internet is back at my house watch out for a totally cute picture extravaganza!

Swing, glorious swing!

If I were a poet, I would write odes and sonnets dedicated to you baby swing, but I'm not but I will just say THANK YOU for the following:
-being only $10.00 at a garage sale
-folding up easily so I can take you anywhere and everywhere
-being the only thing that Lily would sleep in for the first 4 weeks of her life
-taking all the abuse a 2 year old can weild, and entertaining her for a while
-letting me blog, and email during Lily's naptime
-providing a different point of view for a baby to look at the world in
-running through 2 babies, and thousands of hours on the same set of D batteries
-so much more but I don't want you to be embarrassed because you're such a humble thing
